Notre marque : nouvelle identité

Why André Heucq?

Our Brand: Champagne André Heucq

We used to be Heucq Père & Fils, but from now on we'll be André
Heucq, as a tribute to the founder, as well as to the current winemaker.
"André Heucq" affirms history and our winegrowing reality.

The brush-written "H" emphasizes manual work and
craftsmanship on our domain.
By evoking a "4", he is also alluding to the 4 elements that make up our universe.
surround :
Earth - Fire - Water - Air

"Nature" and "Terroir" frame a moon and assert what is most important to us.
that drives us every day: to be as close as possible to our terroir while
respecting nature. The moon marks our attention to
cycles for our work in the vineyard and the winery.

La Gamme André Heucq

  • Héritage
These are our historic champagnes, inherited from our great-grandfather, and which have evolved over time and through the generations.

  • Parcel tribute
It's an ode to the land and our vineyards, giving us the opportunity to extract an exceptional cuvée from a single plot, a single grape variety and a single year.

  • Originel
These are cuvées from our wine library. Aged exclusively in barrel, in very small volumes, they are the memory of our house.

  • The Coteaux Champenois
These are red wines made from old vines with low yields, harvested late to benefit from a high concentration of aromas.

Our history

1936 - ANDRÉ HEUCQ - FIRST GENERATION OF ARTISAN WINEMAKERS

After producing Champagne for personal consumption for many years, our family decided to market its first bottles in 1936. A true worker of the land, my great-grandfather was both a farmer and a winemaker.

1955 - ROGER HEUCQ - SECOND GENERATION ARTISAN WINEMAKER

My grandfather carried on the family tradition as an artisan winemaker and farmer. He planted much of our vineyard as we know it today and developed its clientele and modern winemaking techniques.

1973 - ANDRÉ HEUCQ - THIRD GENERATION ARTISAN WINEMAKER

My father's main task is to look after the vineyard. He expanded the surface area and worked closely with his father, Roger Heucq.
Today, my father has succeeded in imposing his style on Champagne Heucq: fine, elegant, refined, reflecting its terroir and personality. He gives pride of place to Meunier and barrel ageing.
He has also confronted the paradox of modernity by returning to a certain form of tradition: biodynamic viticulture, which he applies both to his vineyards and to his new, entirely ecological production site.

As the fourth generation, we strive to work hand in hand with our parents to combine modernity & tradition.

Terroir of Cuisles

Cuisles is a small village with 150 inhabitants in the heart of the Marne valley, the "terroir du Meunier". Reviewing Champagne terroirs

Usually, in the Marne valley, the soils are "simple" clay-limestone. The green illite clay layer is unique to Cuisles and two surrounding villages. Illite clay; this is the clay used in cosmetics and beauty products. This type of clay is very rich in nutrientsAnd it's precisely within this layer of green clay that the Cuisles vines take root!

Since green clay retains water better than chalky soils, this type of soil needs less water than classic clay-limestone soils. Generally speaking, the Marne Valley is far from being spared from downpours. This is where Cuisles' position in the hollow of the valley plays a fundamental role: showers are much less frequent, so soil and climate are in perfect alchemy for optimum ripening of the Meunier.

So, with this unique combination of soil and climateChampagne de Cuisles can truly be described as a terroirThe Meuniers, more than elsewhere, have great minerality and excellent ageing potential.

Our philosophy

OUR SOIL CULTIVATION

"Biodynamics is much more than a viticultural practice, it's a philosophy.

Vineyard grassing & horse ploughing. The aim here is to reactivate the soil's microbial life.

Use of dynamized horn dung & horn silica with rainwater

Use of natural herbal teas in line with moon phases (to replace chemical products)

HORN BOUSE

The "500" horn dung preparation is obtained by fermenting good quality cow dung in the soil over the winter, which has been introduced into cow horns. This preparation is aimed at the soil and plant roots. Its name comes from the fact that it contains over 500 million bacteria per gram!

  • It is a powerful soil structure builder,
  • It promotes microbial activity and humus formation,
  • It regulates soil pH by increasing that of acid soils and reducing that of alkaline soils,
  • It stimulates seed germination, the general growth of the root system and especially its vertical development towards depth,
  • It increases legume development and nodule formation,
  • It helps dissolve mineral formations in soils, even at depth (alios), and can help combat salinization phenomena.

HORN SILICA

An essential preparation for biodynamic agriculture, it is complementary to and acts in polarity with horn dung (500). It is not aimed at the soil, but at the aerial part of plants during their vegetative period. It can be said to be a kind of "light spray", which can promote vegetative vigor or, on the contrary, attenuate excessive luxuriance. It brings a luminous (crystalline) quality to plants, and reduces their tendency to disease. Not only does it reinforce the effects of sunlight, it also enables a better relationship with the cosmic periphery, with the entire cosmos. This preparation is essential for the internal structuring and development of plants. It promotes vertical plant growth. It makes plants firmer and more supple. It increases the quality and resistance of leaf and fruit epidermis.

IN THE END, BIODYNAMICS ALLOWS US TO :

Reactivating the vine's self-defence mechanism
To have quality grapes To do away with the use of chemicals
Use very low doses of copper & sulfur
Production that respects the environment and biodiversity

Our Certifications and Commitments

CERTIFIED ORGANIC SINCE 2018

MEMBER OF THE MEUNIER INSTITUT

BIODYNAMICS: IN CONVERSION

MEMBER OF THE ORGANIC CHAMPAGNES ASSOCIATION

We practicebiodynamy[See our philosophy] and our operation is concerned about its environmental practices for a long time now, even before we started the labeling process. However, we felt that the recognition of a label was necessary. It involves a fairly lengthy human, administrative and financial commitment. Having started the process in 2014, we're proud to be able to claim it now.

Our mission is to restore the nobility of the Meunier grape by creating exceptional 100% Meunier cuvées. Meunier Institut Website

We are committed to embodying our love of the miller and our terroir, and after going organic, we are moving towards biodynamic certification.

H-60
